Any little cracker or crunchy treat offered with a glass of sherry at noon and a cocktail at 5:00 in late afternoon.Traditionally served in festive wooden bowls bought on one of Grama's forays over the border into Tijuana, Mexico. Grama and Bompa wintered in La Jolla, CA (where their son John and his family lived) and it was just a hop, skip and a jump over to that colorful, fun city. And such deals!

Grama' designation of the word "chums" to mean snacks most likely came from the term "chumming the waters" in which you throw bits of bait into the water to lure fish.
