2½ cups sifted cake flour
1-⅔ cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup Crisco
1 tsp. salt
3½ tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1½ tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
3 egg whites
2¼ cups sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp. white Karo syrup
1½ tsp. vanilla
2 cups parched peanuts, ground

Directions:
Directions:
Mix well, cake flour, sugar, 3/4 cup milk, Crisco and salt. Add 3½ teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 cup milk, eggs, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly by hand or mixer. Cook at 350 degrees in round cake pans about 30 minutes or till done.

Frosting:
Combine egg whites, sugar, salt, water and Karo in top of double boiler. Beat about 1 minute to mix well. Place over boiling water and beat constantly on high speed for 7 minutes, stirring up from bottom occasionally. Remove from water. Add vanilla. Beat 1 minute. Spread on cake. Sprinkle on ground peanuts.
