2 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Cream
2 Eggs, room temp
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/4 Cup Sour Milk with 1 level tsp Baking Soda
3 Heaping tsp Baking Powder
4-4 1/2 Cups Flour

Preheat oven to 450º. Mix all ingredients well. Chill at least 1 hour. Roll to 1/4" thick. Cut with a 3" round cutter. Bake 8 minutes. Watch carefully as these burn very easily.

These cookies are not as easy to make as it looks! Patience is required.

This is the recipe my great-grandmother, Alma Traaseth, used. I remember visiting her in her tidy little home and being greeted with these cookies. It seemed she always had them on hand and they seemed gigantic in my little hand.
