2 c. white beans
2 c. split peas
1/2 c. each lentils and pearl barley
1 onion, chopped
4 medium leeks, chopped (white and light green parts)
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped
ham bone
2 bay leaves
2 lengths German garlic sausage, sliced
1-19 oz. can diced tomatoes

Easy Beer Bread:
2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2-1/2 tbsp sugar
1-12 oz. beer, room temperature

Directions:
Directions:
Cover beans, peas, lentils and barley with water and soak overnight. Drain and recover with water. Boil 20 minutes. Rinse and let drain. In another pot, cover ham bone with water and boil with leeks, onion, pepper and garlic for a couple of hours. Remove bone and stir in other ingredients. Simmer about 2 hours. Remove bay leaves and add salt and pepper to taste.

Bread: Mix dry ingredients. Stir in beer and bake in loaf pan at 350ºF for 45 minutes. Brush top with butter and serve warm.
