2 T vegetable oil
2 T sesame oil
2 C fennel, about 1 lg bulb, sliced thin
1 C onion, quartered and sliced thin
1 small carrot, peeled, cut into matchstick strips
2 T ginger, minced
2 tsp garlic, minced
1/2 tsp fennel seed
1/4 lb pork sausage
1 T hoisin sauce
1/2 tsp five-spice powder
8 sheets phyllo pastry
1/2 C butter, melted

Directions:
In lg skillet heat vegetable and sesame oil, add fennel, onion, carrot, ginger, garlic and fennel seed; saute until vegetables are just tender, approximately 10 minutes, remove from heat. Cook sausage in heavy skillet until no longer pink, breaking up with spoon, approximately 8 minutes, remove from pan and place in paper towel to remove fat, add to vegetable mixture along with hoisin and spice, season with salt and pepper, mix well. Cool. Place 1 sheet of phyllo on work surface brush lightly with butter. Top with 2nd sheet, brush lightly with butter. Cut into 6 squares. Place heaping tablespoon of filling across bottom of square, leaving 1/2" border on each side. Fold in sides and roll up. Place seam side down on large baking sheet. Can be frozen or baked right away.
Bake at 400 about 15 minutes until golden and heated through.
Serve with peanut sauce or sweet chilli sauce
