1 Cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 Cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 Cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1/3 Cup melted butter
1/2 Cup softened butter
1 1/2 Cups sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tsp. vanilla
2 Cups plus 2 Tbsp. flour
1 Tsp. salt
1 Tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 Cups buttermilk

TOPPING
2 Cups heavy whipping cream whipped with 3 Tbsp. sugar.

Preheat oven to 375º. Grease & flour two 9-inch cake pans. Melt 1/3 cup chocolate chips & set aside. Combine graham cracker crumbs chopped nuts & melted butter. Add the remaining 2/3 cup unmelted chocolate chips & set aside. Cream the softened butter gradually adding sugar & add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition. Blend in the melted chocolate chips & vanilla. At low speed add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk. Pour batter into the 2 prepared pans & sprinkle each with half the crumb mixture. Bake 25-30 minutes (do not overbake). Cool the cakes keeping them topside up. Spread the whipped cream between the layers & on sides only, keeping the brown top exposed. Refrigerate cake before & after serving.
