1 cup butter
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup raisens
2 cups quick cooking Quaker Oats
2 cups cereal-rice crispies, corn flakes, etc.
1 cup coconut
cherries to decorate

Directions:
Directions:
Stir dry ingredients together. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add vanilla, then sifted dry ingredients gradually. Beat smooth. Mix raisins, coconut and cereals together and gradually add to batter. Drop from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a moderate oven until light brown--350-375. Store in an air tight container after cooling.

When Tim and I were married, Elise gave me a handful of typed recipes, especially cookies. Most of them I had "helped" make as I sat on the table in Nanny and Elise's kitchen. This was during WWII. I also remember thinking it was great fun to stir the yellow food coloring into the white margarine we got during that time.
