4 tbsp. Shortening
4 tbsp. Flour
1 c. Milk
1 14 oz. can Tomatoes, cut up
1 Green Pepper, chopped
2 md. Onions, chopped
8 oz. pkg. Macaroni, cooked & drained
2 c. mild Cheddar Cheese, shredded
1 sm. can Tomato Sauce
Crumbled Bacon or Bacon Bits (optional)
Paprika
Dry Bread Crumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Stir shortening and flour together in a large kettle. Add 1 cup milk to kettle and cook about one minute. Slowly add tomatoes, stirring constantly. Add green pepper, onions, macaroni, cheese & tomato sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste. Pour into a large well-greased casserole dish. Over the top, sprinkle paprika, graded cheese and bread crumbs.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes uncovered.

My mother-in-law's parents were born in Bohemia (now the Czech. Republic). This was her mother's recipe and has been very popular in our family.
