Onion topping:
4 cup diced onion
4 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. poppy seeds
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. black pepper
Dry Batter Mix:
1 cup butter, cold, cut into small pieces
3 cup all purpose flour
6 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp + 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. + 1 1/2 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Wet Batter Mixture:
1/2 cup sour cream
2 Tbsp. butter, melted, cooled
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk

Topping:
In a large skillet, cook onion in butter over medium heat for 10 minutes. Stir in rest of ingredients; cook until onion is softened, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat & set aside.
Dry Batter:
In a bowl, combine dry ingredients. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Wet Batter Mixture:
In a small bowl, combine sour cream & melted butter.
Then stir in eggs & milk until smooth.
Make a well in the dry ingredients and stir in the egg mixture and 1/2 cup of the onion topping, just until batter in moist.
Preheat oven to 350*
Spread batter into a greased 10" springform pan.
Spoon remaining onion topping over the batter.
Place pan on a baking sheet.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean.
Let rest 25 to 30 minutes before removing sides of the pan.
Serve warm or room temp.
