3 EXTRA-RIPE, MEDIUM BANANAS, PEELED
1 PKG. (18.25 OZ.) SPICE CAKE MIX
1 1/2 CUP. FINELY CHOPPED WALNUTS, OPTIONAL
3 FIRM, SMALL BANANAS, PEELED SLICED
WALNUT HALVES, FOR GARNISH

EASY BANANA FROSTING
2 EXTRA-RIPE, MEDIUM BANANAS, PEELED
1 PKG. (3 1/2 OZ) INSTANT VANILLA PUDDING MIX
1 CARTON (8 OZ.) FROZEN DESSERT TOPPING, THAWED

Puree extra-ripe bananas in blender. Measure 1 1/2 cups for recipe.

Prepare cake according to package directions, using bananas in place of water. Stir in nuts, if desired.

Turn batter into well greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake in 350º oven 45 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean

Remove cake from pan to wire rack and cool completely.

Slice cake horizontally with a serrated knife into 3 layers (layers don't need to be completely even)

Place one layer on cake plate. Spread with generous amount of Easy Banana Frosting. Arrange banana slices on top.

Repeat with remaining cake layers. End by frosting entire cake or just between layers and on top.

Garnish with banana slices and walnut halves.

EASY BANANA FROSTING: Puree bananas. Measure 1 cup for recipe. Beat bananas and pudding until well mixed, about 1 minute. Fold in topping.
