1 ham bone
1 16 ounce pkg split green peas
1 carrot chopped
1 sm-med onion grated
8 cups water or low fat chicken broth
1/4 tsp peppercorns
1 bay leaf
salt

Directions:
Directions:
1. Put ham bone in bottom of pan. 2. Top with split peas, water, 1 carrot, grated onions, salt and pepper. Put on high to bring to a boil.. While waiting for it to boil, put peppercorns and bay leaf in a piece of cheese cloths and tie them in. Add to broth mixture and reduce to simmer. cover and cook for 2-3 hours. Stir occasionally. Let ham bone cool. Remove lean pieces of ham and add to soup. Continue to cook on simmer with the lid on. Serve with sour cream.
