4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3 to 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup bourbon

Directions:
Directions:
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the flour and cook, whisking, until smooth and golden brown, 4 to 5 minutes. Whisk in 3 cups of the broth, 1 teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until thickened, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the bourbon and cook over medium-high heat until thick.
