1 Chicken - boil
Water
1 Tbs.margarine
Flour -2 cups to start
1 egg
Salt and Pepper - to taste
yellow food color - optional

Directions:
In a large pot cover chicken with water and boil till chicken is tender.Add more water as needed.Salt and pepper can be added now. When chicken is tender,remove chicken from broth and let cool. When it is cool remove meat from the bone.Set aside

Broth - make sure you have plenty of broth for dumplins.Add water or a can of chicken broth and add margarine. bring to boil.

Dumplins- In a large bowl add flour,salt and pepper,and egg. Mix - Now add maybe a 1/2 cup of chicken broth. Mix -add more flour a little at a time till it is stiff enough to roll out .Sprinkle rolling pin and surface with flour so dough doesn't stick.Roll out dough a little at a time and take a knife and cut strips.Drop strips into boiling broth. Continue till all dumplings are made.
Continue to cook in boiling broth on med high heat uncovered for about 10 minutes or until dumplings are tender.Reduce heat and cover cook until dumplings are tender. Stirring every so often so it does'nt' stick.
Mom added 1 or 2 drops of yellow food color to dumplins if she had it. It just makes dumplins look richer.
