2 eggs
1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1/3 c unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening
1 1/4 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 oz bittersweet chocolate -- melt and cool slightly
8 oz sour cream
1 c milk
FUDGY FROSTING
12 ozs semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c butter
8 ozs sour cream
4 1/2 c sifted powdered sugar -- (1 lb.)

Directions:
Let eggs stand at room temperature 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350*
Grease & flour 2 - 9" round cake pans. Set aside.

In small bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda & salt.
In large bowl beat shortening & sugar on medium speed until combined.
Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
Beat in melted chocolate & sour cream.
Alternately add flour mixture & milk;
Beat on low after each addition just until combined.
Spread batter in prepared pans.

Bake 25 minutes or until tops spring back when lightly touched.
Cool on wire racks 10 minutes.
Remove from pans; cool.

FROSTING:
In a large pan over low heat stir together chips and butter until just melted.
Cool 10 minutes
Stir in sour cream.
Stir in powdered sugar until smooth.
Makes 4 cups of frosting

Frost top of bottom layer, top of second layer and then sides.
