One-fourth cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
1 package (10 1/2 ounce) miniature marshmallows
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 sacks of microwave popcorn (popped)

Pop the microwave popcorn and put in a large bowl, taking out all of the unpopped kernels.
Melt margarine or butter in microwave safe bowl for 45 seconds. Add marshmallows, microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until completely melted. Add salt and vanilla, stir.
Pour marshmallow mixture over popped popcorn, stirring to make sure all of it covered with the mixture. Let set for 1 minute, then with buttered hands, form into balls. Press together firmly to make sure the balls stick together.

This is a favorite treat that my kids and I made at Halloween. The mixture is not hot like a syrup mixture and easier for children to handle. They are also not as sticky when eating them.
