1 c. yellow corn meal
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Bring 3 cups water to a boil. Combine remaining 1 cup water, corn meal & salt. Slowly pour into boiling water, stirring constantly. Continue cooking & stirring until it's so thick you can't stir it anymore.
Pour into a loaf pan sprayed with Pam. Let cool down at room temp., then cover & refrigerate over night, or until cold. Cut cold slices & fry in oil, be careful, it will pop & spatter at first. Fry until nice and crispy. Put butter & maple syrup on & enjoy! Mom & dad always used dark Karo syrup.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Mom & dad both made this with bean soup. As mom got older, she used a hand mixer to mix the mush while it was cooking. It gets really hard to stir.
