1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (16 oz.) tomato sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
5 cups noodles
1 cup sour cream
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/3 cup green onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
American cheese slices

Brown ground beef and onion. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, garlic salt, and pepper. Remove from heat. Cook noodles and drain. Combine sour cream, cream cheese, green onion and green peppper. Spread half the noodles in an 11 x 17 inch baking dish. Top with half meat sauce. Cover with sour cream mixture. Add rest of noodles and meat sauce. Cover with cheese slices. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

I tried this recipe which was in the Bellevue paper when we were stationed in Nebraska. Governor Exon was the governor of Iowa at that time in the early 1980's.
