Ingredients: Six eggs 2 1/4 cups sugar 2 tbsp. vanilla 1 pint whipping cream 1 pint half and half 1/2 tsp. salt Milk 2 cups ice cream salt and a bag of ice (for the freezing process)

Directions:Cook eggs in a small amount of milk (approximately 1/2 cup) about 8 minutes or until it coats a metal spoon. Blend egg mixture with sugar, adding the sugar gradually. Beat well. Mix in the whipping cream, half and half, salt and vanilla. Beat well till frothy. Pour into the ice cream can. Add enough milk to the fill line on the can. Freeze according to the ice cream freezer directions (will take 2 cups of ice cream salt and a bag of ice to freeze). Pack until ready to serve. |

Notes: This recipe is one that your Great-Grandma Scott made every summer (except she did not cook the eggs, which is now recommended). Recipe is for a 4 quart (1 gallon) freezer. If freezer is 1 1/2 gallon, then adjust recipe accordingly.
Editor's note: Grandma would make the recipe for the ice cream, but seems like she used a mess of us grandchildren to take turns turning the crank. The only thing that kept us cranking was the anticipation of the homemade ice cream!
