1 c. butter
3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda (sifted with flour)
3 eggs
1-1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Filling:
2 tsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 pkg. dates & nuts.

Directions:
Directions:
Cut butter into flour (as in making a pie crust).
Beat eggs well, add sugar - beat together. Stir eggs & sugar into butter & flour. Add vanilla. Chill dough. Roll out on floured board and cut into shape (using a glass) Bake at 350º.
Filling: Cook filling ingredients, listed above, until thick. Let cool before putting in middle of cookie dough. Fold in half.
