1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. soft butter
1 tsp. soda
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Frosting:
1/4 c. melted butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
3 Tbls. 1/2 & 1/2 or Evaporated. milk
1/3 c. nuts
3/4 c. coconut.

Pour boiling water over oats. Let stand covered 20 min. while you prepare the rest of the ingredients: Beat butter, add sugars, eggs & vanilla. Add oat mixture, mix well. Mix flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture. pour into well-greased & floured 9" square pan. Bake 350º for 55 minutes.
Frosting: Combine the ingredients. Pour on top of warm cake. Broil until bubbly and brown.
