1 Large package of chocolate chips
1 C. Sweetened condensed milk
2 T. Butter or margarine
1 C. chopped walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 C. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 C. butter or margarine
2 C. brown sugar
2 eggs
3 Cup Quaker Oats

Preheat oven to 350º
Melt over boiling water: the chocolate chips, condensed milk and butter
Add the chopped walnuts and 2 tsp. vanilla, set aside. Sift together: Flour, soda, salt, set aside. In mixer, cream 1 C butter, brown sugar. Add 2 eggs, and 2 tsp. vanilla, beat until fluffy. Stir in the flour, soda, salt and 3 C. of oats. In a 13 x 9 inch greased cake pan, place almost all of the oat mixture into the pan (save a small amount to place on the top) and pat down with fingers. Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the top of the oat layer. Place the remaining oat mixture evenly spaced on the top of the chocolate mixture.
8. Bake 40 to 45

We have found that these bars are best after they have been frozen. After the bars are cool, cut them into the size you want your bars, place on a cookie sheet and place in the freezer. When they are frozen, take them out and package them.
