1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (8 oz.) bottle taco sauce
3/4 cup water
1 (4 oz.) can diced green chile peppers
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 (12 ct.) pkg. taco shells, broken; divided
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded; divided
Garnish suggestions: chopped tomato, chopped green pepper, sour cream, black olives

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375º. Grease 11x17 inch baking dish,.
Brown ground beef and onion in large skillet until beef is browned, drain.
Stir in taco sauce, water, peppers, and seasoning mix; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low, and continue to simmer; stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Layer half of the broken shells on bottom of prepared baking dish. Cover with half o meat mixture, sprinkle with 1 cup of cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is melted. Top with suggested garnishes, if desired.
