1 ¼ c firmly packed light brown sugar
2 c flour
¾ c butter flavor shortening
1 t salt
2 T milk
¾ t baking soda
1 egg
1 c mini semisweet chocolate chips
1 T vanilla
1 c finely chopped walnuts

2 pkgs (8oz each) cream cheese, softened
¾ c granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
**Heat oven to 375. Grease 9x13” baking pan with shortening. Use wire rack for cooling. For base, combine brown sugar and ¾ cup shortening in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until creamy. Beat in milk, 1 egg and 1-tablespoon vanilla.
**Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add gradually to creamed mixture at low speed. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts with spoon. Spread half of dough in prepared pan. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Do not over bake. **For filling, combine cream cheese, 2 eggs, granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla in medium bowl. Beat at medium seed of electric mixer until smooth. Pour over hot crust. Roll remaining half of dough between sheets of waxed paper 9x13” rectangle. Remove top sheet of waxed paper. Flip dough over onto filling. Remove waxed paper.
Bake at 375 for 40 minutes until top is set and light golden brown. Do not over bake. Remove pan to wire rack to cool to room temperature. Cut and refrigerate.
