6-8 apples, pared, cored and thinly sliced (6 cups)
3/4-1 cup sugar
4 T flour
1/2-1 tsp ground cinnamon
Dash of ground nutmeg
Pastry for 2 crust 9" pie (deep dish)
2 T butter

Directions:
Directions:
If apples lack tartness, sprinkle with 1 TB of lemon juice. Combine sugar, flour, spices and a dash of salt; mix with apples. Pour mixture into pie crust; dot with butter. Adjust top crust, cutting slits for steam to escape; seal edges. Sprinkle top crust with sugar. Bake at 400º for 50 minutes or until done.
