1 loaf (12oz) french bread cut in 1’’ slices
8 large eggs
2 c half & half
2c. milk
½ tsp nut met
2 tsp vanilla
½ tsp mace
½ tsp cinnamon

Topping:
¾ c butter softened
1 1/3c brown sugar
1 1/3c coarsely chopped pecan, walnuts or hickory nuts
3 T dark corn syrup

Directions:

**Heavily butter 9x13 baking pan. Fill pan with bread slices to within ½’’ of top. Set aside. In blender, mix eggs, milk, half & half, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and mace. Pour mixture over bread. Make topping by combining all ingredients. Set aside until time to bake toast. Spread topping over toast, bake @ 350 for 50 minutes-until puffed and golden. (shield top with foil if top browns too quickly.)
