1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped carrot
1/2 cup onion1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 (32-ounce) cartons chicken broth
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

BISCUIT DUMPLINGS (RECIPE FOLLOWS)

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon minced fresh chives
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
1, In a large Dutch oven,melt butter over medium heat. Add celery, carrot, and onion:cook for 6 to 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender.Add flour,and cook, stirring constantly,for 2 minutes. Gradually stir in broth. Add chicken,cream,and pepper:bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes or until slightly thickened.

2. Add Biscuit Dumpling: cover and cook for 15 minutes. Uncover and simmer for 10 minutes. Service immediately.

Biscuit Dumpling:

1. In a medium bowl,combine flour,chives,baking powder, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Gradually stir in milk.

2 On a lightly floured surface, pat dough to 1/2-inch thickness.Cut into 1-inch pieces.
