1 c. butter or margarine, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 eggs, 2 cups flour unsifted, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. salt, 1 c. chopped nuts optional, 12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips.

Directions:
Directions:
Combine softened margarine, both sugars, adding them gradually, and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and continue beating batter. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using. Drop dough from teaspoon onto lightly greased and floured cookie sheets. Bake at 375º oven for 9 minutes. Do not overbake.
