3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg, well beaten
2 cups flour
2 tsps baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cloves
sugar for dipping

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add the molasses and egg and blend well. Add the flour, baking soda and spices and blend until smooth. Roll into balls and dip in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8 min. Let sit on cookie sheet for 5 - 7 min. before removing to wire rack.
