1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 beaten eggs
4 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate
1½ cups sifted flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup walnuts, broken in large pieces
½ cup chocolate chips, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Butter a 13x9 pan. Beat butter until soft. Add sugar and beat until mixed. Add eggs and mix. Add melted chocolate and beat until combined. Add dry ingredients and mix. Add vanilla and nuts. Put into greased pan and spread. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool.

Alternative: Omit chocolate chips. Cooled brownies can be frosted with chocolate butter cream frosting.
