1 1/4 cups whole milk
3 Tablespoons unsalted, melted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups (packed) golden brown sugar
2 tablespoons chilled, unsalted butter, diced

1. Combine 1/2 cup milk, melted butter and vanilla in a small bowl.

2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

3. Using electric mixer, beat eggs and 1/4 cup white sugar until thick and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

4.Alternately, beat flour mixture and then milk mixture into egg mixture in small portions, mixing well after each. Set batter aside.

5. Combine 3/4 cup milk, brown sugar, and diced butter in 8 inch, ceramic souffle dish.Spoon batter over brown sugar mixture.

6. Bake mixture in 350 degree, pre-warmed oven until tester comes out clean and syrup around edges is bubbling (about 40 minutes.

7.Serve hot over vanilla ice cream

We serve this after Christmas dinner. If you love caramel and ice cream, you will love this dessert! It was originally conceived during the depression because it was an inexpensive dessert. We love it!
