½ pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
¼ pound butter, softened
½ teaspoon salt
1½ cup flour, sifted
Heavy pinch of cayenne pepper
Caraway seeds
Pecan halves or slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together cheese, butter, salt and pepper. Add flour and mix into dough. Form into roll and refrigerate. Keeps up to a month. When needed, preheat oven to 350º, slice dough into thin wedges (wafers) and bake on ungreased cookie sheet 12-15 minutes. Makes 4-6 dozen wafers.
