1 ½ cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 Tbsp milk
3 Tbsp molasses
1 egg
3 ¼ cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves
½ tsp cardamom

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350. In a large bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Blend well. Stir in remaining ingredients and blend well, Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with a floured cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 8 minutes, or until cookies are set. Remove immediately from cookie sheet.

These have been my favorite Christmas cookie since about 1985. I lovingly refer to these as my “Minnesota Cookies” as these are the ones I use the MN cookie cutter with, and place a red hot candy where the state capitol is located, in St. Paul.
