1 cup lard
2 cups sugar
1 cup molasses
2/3 cup sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp cloves
½ tsp ginger
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream lard and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add molasses. Mix. Add sour milk, and dry ingredients. Mix well. Chill batter for at least an hour. Roll out about ¼ inch thick and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees. When cool, frost with your favorite frosting and trim.

We’d go up to Browerville most every year for the opening of Hunting season, and would spend hours making these wonderful gingerbread men. Grandma had every cookie cutter you could imagine, and then we’d arm ourselves with paintbrushes and multiple frosting colors to create these wonderful cookies. The goal was saving a few for Christmas, too. 
