1 c. Soft Butter
1 c. Sugar, plus
21/2 c. Sifted Flour
1/8 t. Salt1 t. Rose water
Red and yellow food coloring
1/2 t. Almond extract
Almonds, chopped fine

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, flour and salt thoroughly. Divide dough in half. Flavor 1/2 of dough with rose water and tint a delicate pink. Flavor the other 1/2 with almond extract, almonds and tint soft yellow. Make 2 rolls about 3" wide. Plastic wrap rolls and refrigerate until firm. Cut in 1/8" slices, put on ungreased cookie sheets, sprinkle with extra sugar.
Bake at preheated 350* for 8 minutes.

Craig's mother gave me this recipe when we were married (1976). I particularly like the Rose water cookies. You can get a bottle of Rose water at Wegmans. You might also try the pharmacy. I don't know why but one year that was where I found it. You can freeze these.
