1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup port wine
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
3-oz. semi-sweet chocolate
3 eggs
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions:
In a small saucepan bring the port to the boiling point. Reduce heat immediately to warm setting. Add butter and chocolate to melt. Blend when melted with a wire whisk.

In a bowl beat the egg yolks and the sugar until well blended. Alternately add the flour and the cooled port mixture in three parts until well blended

In another bowl beat the egg whites and the salt until stiff. Fold them into the batter. Turn the batter into a well-greased, 10-inch cake tin and bake at 325 degrees for about 30 minutes.

This very rich cake needs no icing or topping. However, an icing of chocolate butter cream makes it devastating!
