2½ C sifted cake flour
1 t soda
1 C butter
2¼ C brown packed sugar
3 eggs
1 t vanilla
2-3 squares melted unsweetened chocolate
1 C milk

Luscious Frosting:
3 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 C butter
4 1/2 C powdered sugar
1/3 C milk
2 egg whites
1 t vanilla

Cake:

Sift flour with soda. Stir butter to soften. Add sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Stir in chocolate. Alternately add milk and flour. Beat well. For 3 layers, bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.

Frosting:

Melt chocolate and butter. Mix in powdered sugar, milk, egg whites and vanilla. Place mixing container in bowl of ice water; beat with rotary beater (or at low speed with electric mixer) until correct consistency.
