2 sticks butter (softened)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (loosely packed)
2 tsp. vanilla

3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
The trick... use a big bowl and a wooden spoon to mix- DO NOT
USE A MIXER. In a smaller mixing bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda together and set aside. In a larger bowl, mix softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar together. Then, mix in vanilla. Beat in one egg at a time.
Once sugar/butter mixture is mixed, slowly mix in small portions of the flour mixture, then stir in chocolate chips. Place large flattened balls of cookie dough on a cookie sheet (usually 10-12 per sheet). Bake for 11-14 minutes. Cookies should be slightly golden brown on edges. Let sit for 2-3 minutes on cookie sheet; then transfer to cooling rack. Let cool completely.
Recipe yields about 3 dozen. Cookies are great if frozen also.
