Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups white flour
3 pinches sugar
1 pinch salt
3 pinches baking soda
1 stick butter, room temperature
1 egg, slightly beaten
approximately 2 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together the dry ingredients. Stir in the egg and enough buttermilk to make a soft dough. Work in the stick of butter. Knead for 5 minutes. Divide dough in half and place in 2 greased 9-inch round pans. Cut a cross in the top of each loaf for Jesus. Bake at 400º till brown and toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Slather with more butter.
Note: Luke does not have this printed anywhere. He gave it to me off the top of his head.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Luke cooks by the seat of his pants and does a great job. Bread is his specialty. He learned to make this bread from a little Irish woman on the island of Innismore in Galway Bay. (I think Luke's 'pinches' are a little more than the average size person's.)
