1 c raisins
1 c water
3/4 c shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 c rolled oats
1/2 c nuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:

Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, 20 - 30 min. Drain raisins liquid into measuring cup. Add enough water to make 1/2 cup.
Heat oven 400º. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and spices; blend in. Add rolled oats, nuts, and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2 in apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 min, or until lightly browned.

I use a med scoop to dip the cookie dough out (makes the cookies all the same size) and put them on a baking stone.
