1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 t. baking soda
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Bring sugar, buttermilk, and butter or margarine to a boil.
Remove from heat and add soda and vanilla. The syrup will foam and double its size.

To make a fabulous dipping sauce for fresh tortillas, add imitation butter rum flavoring.

If you don't have buttermilk or buttermilk powder, add 1 t. lemon juice to 1/2 c. milk.
