"Plain fresh bread, its crust shatteringly crisp. Sweet cold butter. There is magic in the way they come together in your mouth to make a single perfect bite."--Ruth Reichl

200 grams ground hazelnuts
200 grams sugar
2 T. powdered baking cocoa

1.5 deciliters half and half
1 egg, beaten

Puff pastry sheets

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together first three dry ingredients. Mix together half and half and egg, then add to dry ingredients.

You can buy these frozen sheets of puff pastry sheets (Pepperidge farms makes them). Thaw one or two sheets and roll together to merge. Cut out the bottom round shape for the springform pan from the dough, and use the rest of the dough to form a 1-inch high band around the edge of the dough circle. Prick the bottom with a fork.

Pour the filling into the springform onto the dough. Put into a cold oven on lowest rack. Turn on oven to 350-375 F, and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour.

Can also be baked on a large 14 x 14 inch baking sheet with sides. In that case, the recipe should be doubled. If making the larger batch, cut into brownie-sized pieces instead of wedges.
