1 28 oz can (crushed or diced) Tomatoes (I like using fresh tomatoes or a can of Muir Glen Organic Fire Roasted)
3,4,or 5 cloves of garlic (more if you are eating, living and sleeping alone)
1/2 cup of fresh chopped basil leaves
4 tbsp. olive oil
Salt to taste
8 oz of pasta
Grated Parmesan Reggiano

Drain the tomatoes
Mince the Garlic
Chop the basil
Combine all ingredients in a glass or ceramic bowl (don't use metal because of the acid in the tomatoes), cover and refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour before serving

All measurements are to taste.
Don't throw out the tomato juices after draining the tomatoes. Use the liquid for something else.
