1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup molasses
1 egg
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg. Blend well. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Wrap in wax paper and chill in fridge. Take out small amount of dough at a time; roll out on floured surface to 1/4" thick. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375ºF for 10-12 minutes. Cool on wire racks then decorate.
