1 cup butter (you can substitute 1/2 butter and 1/2 margarine)
3/4 cup cornstarch
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 1/8 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter
2-4 Tbl. milk
Almond or Vanilla extract
food coloring

Directions:

Dump flour, cornstarch powdered sugar and salt in food processor. (A mixer works also) Add vanilla and butter. Begin to process. When crumbs turn to large ball, stop. Make teaspoon size balls and place on large cookie sheet. Place thumb print in the middle of each ball. All should fit on one cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 20 minutes. Remove balls from cookie sheet and allow to cool.
Frosting:
Mix soft butter and powdered sugar. Add part of the milk and begin to beat together. Continue beating and adding small amount of milk till frosting is the correct consistency. Add the flavoring and food coloring last.

I like to split the frosting and make two different colors and flavors. It works well at Christmas or for baby showers. Chocolate can also be put in the center.
