Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c (4 1/2 oz) sliced, roasted almonds
1 c butter
1 c sugar
1/3 c brown sugar
2 T water
1/2 t baking soda
6 oz semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Roast almonds in 350º oven in a cookie sheet 5-7 minutes until light brown. Chop a bit into smaller pieces. Sprinkle half of almonds in a buttered 9x13 inch pan. In saucepan, melt butter, add sugars and water stirring constantly over medium heat until it boils. Cook to 300º (hard crack on candy thermometer) I actually use my nose...when it starts to smell just a bit burnt, it's done. Remove from heat and work fast adding soda and stirring well. Pour over almonds. Allow to cool 5-8 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over toffee. allow them to melt. spread. sprinkle remaining almonds over chocolate. Cool. Break into smaller pieces.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Made every year at the Meier house. Too many batches to count! Don't walk away from the stove when boiling toffee. That's when it seems to want to burn!!
