2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup milk
4 tbsp. butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts, if preferred

Directions:
Directions:
1. Grease 8x8 square pan. Set aside.
2. Combine sugar, cocoa, milk, in medium saucepan. Stir to blend, bring to boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer. Do not stir again.
3. Place candy thermometer in pan and cook to 238ºF (114ºC). (without thermometer until a drop in cold water forms a soft ball. Feel ball with fingers to make sure it's right consistency. It should flatten when pressed between fingers).
4. Remove from heat. Add butter, vanilla extract and nuts. Beat with wooden spoon until fudge looses sheen. Do not underbeat.
5. Pour into prepared pan; let cool; cut into squares.
