3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cream
1 c. buttermilk
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
(lard)

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs. Beat in sugar and salt. Add cream and buttermilk Put soda in buttermilk and mix. By hand, mix in baking powder, flour, and nutmeg. Put lard in pan and heat to 375º. Roll doughnuts about 1/4" or 5/8" thick. Let sit awhile and this will form a scum - they will not absorb the lard as much. Roll out on flour cloth. Drain on paper towels.
