4 ounces Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate Baking Bar
1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter cut into pieces
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
¾ cup + 2 tablespoons all–purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking power
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
1 teaspoon vanilla

Caramel Pecan Topping
¾ cup sugar
Pinch of salt
3 tablespoons water
⅓ cup light corn syrup
⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ cup chopped nuts (English walnuts, almonds or pecan are all good)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease (with Crisco) and flour an 8 x 8 pan. Melt chocolate bar and butter over low heat or in microwave for about 1 minute. Let cool to room temperature. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, mix well. In bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly fold flour mixture into chocolate mixture; mix well. Stir in chips. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges begin to draw away from sides of pan. Cool brownies.

Topping
Bring sugar, salt, corn syrup and water to boil in a 3 quart saucepan. Boil until it turns a golden brown. Remove from heat and slowly add cream and vanilla. Sprinkle nuts over brownies and pour topping over all. Cool on rack. Chill brownies until caramel is firm (about 2 hours).
