1 cup milk
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
1 package of yeast
3 cups rye or whole wheat flour
6 cups white flour

Directions:
Directions:
Bring the milk, brown sugar, molasses, salt and shortening to a boil. Cool; add 3 cups water in which 1 package of yeast has been added.
Stir in 3 cups rye or whole wheat flour and 6 cups of white flour; Leave on the drainboard over night in a large covered bowl. In the morning, knead into 4 loaves. Let rise 1 hour. Then bake in 350º oven for 30-40 minutes.
