1 cup shortening or vegetable oil
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup fancy molasses
8 eggs
4 1/2 cups milk
4 cups flour
7 tsps. baking powder
2 tsps. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsps. cinnamon
6 cups natural bran
2 cups raisins or dates or both
1 can applesauce (optional)

Sift dry ingredients. Cream shortening and sugar. Add dry ingredients to the remaining mix. Stir only until flour mixture disappears. Fill muffins cups with 1/4 cup of batter. Bake 350º for 15-20 minutes.
